DAY NINE

We decided to take our time getting up on the cloudy Sunday morning. Then took off on the METRO to Bastille.... previously I walked there, but the time wasn't so much and we wanted to cover a lot of ground - so we went on the Metro, line 1.

The Marche Bastille was again a wonderful experience with lots of strange products.... we ate some Lebanese "pancake" crossed with a pizza....it was lovely and kept us going all along the Champs Elyssees and the Arc'd Triomphe which was something she really wanted to see. The previous week I was too scared to try anything.... and the people seemed friendlier than I remember.

And now I know somebody who bought something in a designer shop on the "Champs" - Massimo Dutti ..... the quality is unbelieveable, the silk so soft and the leather just the quality you can wish for.

We walked up and down the Champs Elyssees and then decided to return home to put on more warm clothes and then went for the boat trip on the Seine and something to eat at a restaurant....on our way home, however that Lebanese snack of the morning was making us extremely thirsty and we had a "beer" - yes, a beer at a local "pub/restaurant".... not unaffordable - costs less than a coffee at some places, and then went to the flat.

The boattrip was very special with the different view on the musee and the bridges.... we loved it but it was quite chilly with gloved hands and scarves and jackets - but we were not going to be put off.

After that we walked back to the right bank into the neighbourhood onto Rue de Rivoli where we found a lovely restaurant, not too crowded Chez Benjamin and we had warm supper and a glass of wine...

I still haven't done the river and wine thing, but it is simply too cold. - I think the Spring is on its way though..... all along the river bank we could see the trees with brand new leaves.

We came back to the flat refreshed after a brisk walk down Rue de Rivoli and she had to pack and get ready for her early departure from Gare de Lyon tomorrow morning.....
